Banking
Banks are involved in transferring funds from savers to borrowers, a process otherwise known as financial intermediation.

These financial services, however, span a great range. Banks can offer checking accounts, savings plans, business loans, consumer loans and much more.

The role of banks is also in flux. In recent times, banks have been expanding their services to include things like securities trading, insurance, corporate finance advisory, etc.

With the financial crisis of 2008, there is also political pressure to change the role of banks through regulatory reform. Banking is will be an important topic to keep track of as these changes occur.
